Health Benefits of Honey

                                           Health Benefits of Honey

Honey has been one of these foods commonly praised by our grandparents but highly underestimated by the younger generation.

More and more people turn to honey also as a result of new research suggesting amazing medicinal properties of honey.

For some, honey is the number one home remedy!

Honey is made by honey bees that bring nectar to the beehive. With the help of enzymes, the nectar turns into fructose and glucose in the bee's digestive tract.

Honey contains a number of microelements such as postassium, cobalt, magnesium, iron, calcium, and vitamins such as  B 1, B 2, B6 , B12, C, and folic acid among others.

Honey (and more precisely the simple sugars in it) help to lower the toxic influence of pollutants such as alcohol, nicotine and other drugs. Honey improves blood circulation and lowers high blood pressure. It further protects the liver, strenghtens the immune system and increases the production of bile.

There is a lot more: honey stimulates the production of red cells and hemoglobin.  It helps to fight all kinds of bacteria and is known to have cleansing and restorative properties.

Although it does have a number of microelements and some vitamins, its greatest power lies in its ability to fight off bacteria and, thus, it is used to help people with sick liver, stomach, digestvie tract and wounds of any type.

What is the best way to benefit from it?

People in Central Europe place 2 teaspoonfuls of honey with warm ( not hot) wated and leave it overnight to drink it the following morning. This is when honey is reported to display its strongest medicinal properites mentioned above.

A warning: make sure you do not feed honey to infants. Because of the presence of botulinum endespores, infants are at risk of contracting botulism which is a rare condition but can have very serious (even fatal) consequences.

Otherwise, honey is like a miracle drug except it is a great natural home-remedy that deserves a lot more credit for its healing power.
