Black Widows Among Us, Weakland's Heating & Air Conditioning

I recently received this story.

Dear Groovy Stuff,

I heard about your exposes from a friend after I told them about our nightmare with Weakland's Heating & Air Conditioning. After reading your exposes, I agree with you about the uselessness of the BBB.

According to the Nevada State Contractors Board, Kirk "Kirky" Weakland is the owner of record of Weakland's Heating and Air Conditioning, 170 Gallian Ln., Reno, NV 89511, Nevada contractor's license 49427.

Weakland's Heating and Air Conditioning installed new gas lines and a new air conditioner at our home. Based on Weakland's telling us the job was LAWFULLY completed, we IMMEDIATELY paid for the new gas lines, new ac, install and permits. Inexplicably, for weeks then months we did not get our LAWFUL permits from Weaklands.

When we called Weaklands at 853-0304, Anna Weakland, Mrs. Kirky Weakland, has more than once yelled at us on the phone that if we had just picked our permit up from our post office box, we would have our permit, as the post office returned our permit to her as SHE FAILED TO PUT ENOUGH POSTAGE ON IT and now we have to come in and pick our permit up from her.

What a crock!! Over the phone we could hear her often talk to "Kirky." Like we will ever do business with a "Kirky" or refer any one to do business with a "Kirky." Anna Weakland told us the reason our permit she mailed us was returned was because our permit had postage due on "it" that also according to Anna Weakland in a sarcastic tone told us WE should have just paid.

Anna Weakland wants us to pay for her incompetence! Anna Weakland was adamant we're supposed to pay for her carelessness!! Our fourth time on the phone with Anna Weakland still attempting to get our permit, Anna. Weakland repeated her position that if we had just picked our permit up from our post office box, we would have our permit, as the post office returned "it" to her and now we have to come into Weaklands and pick our permit up from their office. We asked to speak with the contractor licensee. Anna Weakland refused, gave us the "f-you" and hung up on us.

After seven months, the "permit" Anna Weakland had turned out to be a FRAUDULENT permit. According to the City of Reno letter we received as 1) a permit was NEVER posted by Weaklands ON the property from the time Weakland's started the work until the permit was signed off, nor 2) was the permit application EVER signed off by the City of Reno. Weaklands NEVER posted on our property the LAWFULLY REQUIRED permit application and the City of Reno has NEVER signed off on any ac permit for our property.

Anna Weakland pawned off on us, FRAUDULENTLY, the permit APPLICATION, that was SUPPOSED to have been posted on the property BY Weaklands DURING their work AND until signed off by the City of Reno. Anna Weakland illegally tried to pawn , the permit APPLICATION off to us as our LAWFUL permit.

That greatly disturbs us, is fraud, and smacks of despicable Elder Abuse as Weakland's told us the job was done, and based on that later to be discovered false assertion, we paid Weakland's IN FULL.

Turns out the job was NOT done as the City of Reno had NOT signed off the permit application AND the permit application was NEVER posted as REQUIRED BY LAW on the property. Instead, Anna Weakland REPEATEDLY sarcastically scolded us for not paying HER postage due because SHE did not put enough postage on the FRAUDULENT Permit she mailed us. MONTHS later a FRAUDULENT permit APPLICATION that WAS to have been lawfully posted on the property months ago, is fraudulently presented by Weaklands as the lawful final permit. Wrong. THEN Weaklands was supposed to have had the City of Reno inspector come out and sign OFF and THEN we were supposed to have paid Weaklands for a COMPLETED job. Instead Mrs. Weakland was mailing us with postage due the permit APPLICATION she should have had lawfully posted on the property months ago claiming it is the LAWFUL FINAL permit.

Again, what a crock Anna Weakland is pulling off with us. Anna Weakland has been inexcusably repeatedly RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL to us in her yelling at us in her providing us with a FRAUDULENT permit. Elder Abuse, which Weakland's has perpetuated on us, is a felony. Conviction of a felony means that Weaklands' and its owners will never again be able to hold a license. Failure to pull the required permits is a crime. We paid EXTRA for a licensed contractor to do the job.

The way Anna Weakland has repeatedly acted is like an incompetent and dangerous amateur!

What a ballsy con artist Anna. Weakland is! She failed to dazzle us with the required knowledge and accountability of a contractor, so she tried to intimidate us with unprofessional BS. Well, Anna Weakland's been CAUGHT. Anna Weakland is a dumb bully and a cheat!

Then, in the process of getting THAT real permit, City of Reno Inspector Penny Foster, 745-3750, discovered that Weaklands had FAILED to pull other required permits for when they ran the new gas lines. Months later when Kirky Weakland came out to the property to meet City of Reno Inspector Penny Foster after our complaint, Kirky Weakland denied to us and Inspector Foster that Weaklands had done the new gas line installation work. "No record in my books," he adamantly claimed.

City of Reno Inspector Penny Foster then showed Kirky Weakland the Weakland's bid and invoice for the new gas lines. Kirky Weakland looked at the paperwork City of Reno Inspector Penny Foster showed him. Kirky Weakland then gulped, turned white and finally said through tight lips that he would immediately go down and pull the required permits for that job.

Turns out Anna Weakland was illegally doing contractor's work without her husband's knowledge, keeping it off her husband's books, and illegally collecting money from it.

Not only was Anna Weakland cheating Weakland customers, she was also cheating her own husband. The result was Anna Weakland was cheating Reno, Nevada and the Feds. Since Anna Weakland did not have this work on the Weakland books, Weaklands was illegally not reporting all of Weakland's income to the City of Reno for their Business License, nor to the State of Nevada Department of Taxation for their Sales and Use Tax, nor to the Internal Revenue Service for monies earned.

Kirky Weakland better watch his back. He is married to a black widow. Based on Anna Weakland's behavior with us, we won't be surprised if Kirky Weakland later turns up dead-broke or even dead.
