Full time bartender at GIGER 7 pm to 2 am Fridays and Saturdays, 6 pm to 11 pm Sundays, Mondays, Tuedays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. One of the owners of GIGER. Building and business operating manager for her six GIGER partners. A fata morgana is the most bizarre of superior images. There is something unnerving about watching reality bend before one’s eyes. There is what one “knows” to be true, and that which one can see through an eye or telephoto lens or binoculars – with Fata Morgana, the three are difficult to reconcile. Something is happening on the mind's horizon. While someone suffering from the madness of love exhaustion could, however unlikely it may seem, conceivably mistake deception for love. Mirages cannot be held in one’s hand – they appear some distance away, and like rainbows can only be followed, never reached. Mirages, from the Latin mirare, meaning “to look at, to wonder at”, are natural optical phenomena – they are real, objective events, that only cause problems for us when we interpret them incorrectly. They are formed by the bending, or refracting of light rays through layers of air of differing temperatures, a projection giving a shimmering wet appearance and appear thus giving the impression that they are closer than they really are. Makes far-a-way objects seems to tower in. Then there are Fata Morgana – an Italian term referencing Morgan le Fay, the elfin, shape-shifting half-sister of King Arthur. In our context, the Fata Morgana is a complicated, rapidly changing superior mirage, a comfortable Gothic Dominatrix that display inverted objects, stretched landscapes and other weirdness of smoke and mirrors. Mirages, these fata morganas, have long left us spellbound. Their power to play tricks on our minds endlessly fascinates. Uses unlit cigarettes (doesn't smoke) like her fedoras. Has Master of Arts in Drama from San Francisco State University. Has a refined, classically beautiful face. She is not knockout gorgeous; there is a smoky kind of sensuousness about her. She is poised, cool, in complete command of herself, and spoiled. San Francsico sex clubs regular. Plays well with others. Drives a 1954 red kit Morgan. Silver level ballroom dancer. Has the Giger habit of holding her drink in the palm of her hand. Accomplished card counter and Black Jack player. Knobby knees, stringy, foal gawkiness, a gardener so usually has a peeling sunburn, scratches, bruises and an understandable amount of dirt under her nails.

Lives at Marin Valley Mobile Country Club senior trailer park in Novato, California since he was 55. Holds martial arts Black Belt. More than competent with weapons. Abused as a child. Happily drafted by Army out of high school, later General Discharge for killings without orders. Well-endowed, several times divorced. Abusive, stalker, Peeping Tom, drinker, smoker, self-indulgent, White Supremcist, likes to wear women's panties and often drops his circa 1976 Levi 501 white boot cut, button fly jeans to tuck in his shirt, pirate tattooed, ballroom dance troller, drugstore cowboy in high heeled cowboy boots, liscensed gun dealer and private investigator, has women's high heel fetish. Libertarian. Drives a restored grey and blue 1981 El Camino he keeps up himself. Always carries around a VA stress ball he inevitably squeezes. San Francsico sex clubs regular. One of the owners of GIGER. Has a storm in his mind. Does not always play well with others. In love with ALICE who he has on a pedastal. Has the Giger habit of holding his drink in the palm of his hand.
CINDY / JEN / YOUNG CINDY: Masters degree in Music from San Rafael, California Dominican College, paid for by her night life working at the San Francisco sex clubs. Full-time bartender at GIGER 7 pm to 2 am Fridays and Saturdays, 6 pm to 11 pm Sundays, Mondays, Tuedays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. CINDY is one of the owners of GIGER and lives on its top floor. Learning well to play well with others. Pragmatic, humorous, talented, breaking glass ceilings. YOUNG CINDY is begining to look at men like a cat a bird. Has the Giger habit of holding her drink in the palm of her hand.
JOHN K. ‘KEN’ OLSON, JR: Has American, Italian and Austrian citizenships. Lives in Milan, Italy and Innsbruck, Austria with relatives. Speaks Italian, French, Austrian, and English. Singer, musician, artist, sailor, scientist. Attends boarding school at Britain’s Eton College. Plays well with others. KEN for all his 10-year-old energy has an underlying Rock Hudson charming casualness and amiability of just being totally in the moment about him.
One of KEN 's maternal great-grandfather’s was a University of Vienna, Austria professor. He was a member of the Vienna Circle, his colleagues among others were Kurt Gödel, Else Frenkel-Brunswik, Kurt Steiner, Oskar Morgenstern, Manfred Wirth, Roland Rainer, and nobel prize-winners Julius Wagner-Jauregg, Hans Fischer, Karl Landsteiner, Erwin Schrödinger, Viktor Franz Hess, and Otto Loewi. In late 1938 the Nazis killed him in a purge during their annexation of Austria. His wife and teenage son, with U.S. assistance, fled to London in 1940. In 1946, the powerful Savoy family, now on the losing side of war, was politically required to leave Italy. In London in 1947, the Austrian, now a British trained engineer, met and married an exiled Savoy. In 1949, with his mother, wife and a brother-in-law, the Austrian engineer immigrated to Los Angeles, California America to work for Walt Disney. There, on July 4, 1953, the British trained Austrian engineer and the Italian Savoy conceived their first child. In homage to all the wonderland of America, they named her ALICE.

Blog Opera
Blog Opera, the GIGER Game of Choice, is the entertainment game that proudly acknowledges its own alternative reality, a hybrid online offline existence. Who doesn't love playing games? Anywhere. A drama that plays out where ever you go. Entertainment always. Sense and respond. Games are a form of happiness, entertainment hunting/foraging engines that fulfill, connect, engage, reward, and produce. We hunt/forage for happiness, entertainment and discover much while doing so and then incessantly tell stories about it. Sense and respond. Think games can't help your life or your business? Think again. Games are saving you one game at a time. Dopamine has less to do with pleasure itself than the drive to seek pleasure. When you care there is more meaning. Dopamine is from anticipation not attainment -- Hence the connection to gaming and addiction. Like any addiction, the natural reward system is hijacked, as it's now your own alternative universe with your created back-story. Characters and plot lines you extend to all media and beyond. That alternative reality is a robust world of immersive stimulation automatically looping sense and respond. That’s a typical gnarly Class IV computation. This Class IV computation possesses every skill set on the planet. When it cranks out Crowdsourcing it has unlimited resources like, unlimited time, unlimited intellect and, unlimited money. Crowdsourcing can solve anything and, solve it mighty fast and, look real good doing it.
The now inevitable interactive game of Blog Opera blends 'reality' and 'fantasy.' Think Uncle Walt when he and those he hired transmuted the three-dimensional immersive pseudo-reality known as Disneyland. For a Japanese, they're used to the idea of fantasy and reality. Not so much for Americans. Which alternative-reality do you want to be immersed in today? Phillip K. Dick or Walt Disney? --Matrix or Avatar. Or something more ego-cast? --Then just mashup, remix, transmedia your own. Develop an alternate virtual community. The audience is, as it always has been, free to step into the fiction, immerse them selves, and direct the story. That's what alternate reality is, interactions in response to alternate events.
Blog Opera rejects the traditional idea of printed fiction as it is participatory narrative and action that's native to and played on the internet, today's culture, education, political and, entertainment highway. Crowdsourcing is a version of Blog Opera. In Blog Opera you, the alternative reality gamer, are an entertained participant and observer, living every story you experience and become any game you play. Blog Opera's more surprises and randomness make it even more game-like and that is what invites you in and keeps you in. By immersing yourself in and playing bigger and better games, you can build stronger communities and collaborate on any scale. Even world-changing games Blog Opera is philosophically rich and completely practical. Blog Opera changes the way you see the world.
Blog Opera is you building a game, you building alternative experiences that transform your life into your entertainment venue. The game of Blog Opera, creating alternative realities, is part of the change the internet has brought, and it is based on the most fundamental change --from a market to a network. A new game is in town for the foreseeable future. Competition is uncool. Trusted collaboration is hip. From the division of labor into hunter and gatherer the progression to collaboration was the next game-changing step we humans took. Today is for those that understand, design and play immersive games. These are games that have no boundaries between author and audience --Games that entertain. Visceral games. Games that create a series of poignant emotional moments that we seize and make our own. Games that read-write, mashup, remix and are participatory. Games that have an alternative reality you want to live in and tell stories about. Something publishers realized a long time ago; stories and characters gain value when shared. Brands become games, and games become stories. Virtual alternate reality is now immersive real-world alternative communities of tit for tat discourse. Write your own story, mix fact and fiction, upload the story, and an on-line audience quickly deconstructs it. Blog Opera Gamers don't just play a good game. They make a good game.
The concept of your leisure time has evaporated into the constant bombardment of data. The only way to rationally deal with others' bombardment is to take control of your own story. Sense and respond. Play some Blog Opera. Play a good game.
The Rules of Blog Opera are at http://www.scribd.com/doc/52616881/The-Rules-of-Blog-Opera.
Pacing
Slow, languid, undulates, jiggles, long beats of silence with body language, costumes, music, and eyes telling the story, ebbs and flows, lazy backwaters, deliberate, savored, everything's sipped not chugged, drawn out, nuances, sway, trances, thoughtful, all the time in the world, rhythmic.

Don't worry, John, you're conscience is clear. She still loves you. We still use that against her. Besides, you left her alive --Mostly --Sort of. Now let's have some fun. Let's go taste some fear. I smell the blood already.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
But Alice, ooh la la, the most beautiful one of all dances in a ring of fire and throws off the challenge with a shrug. She is coming in from the woods as a bull with a lilac sprig dangling from his horn.
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
She doesn't know about this. She doesn't know anything about this.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
(watches The PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show)
The program for this evening is not new. You've seen this entertainment through and through.
JIM as played by Dwight Yoakam
Be cool Alaric, you never learned fuckin' patience, you want everything at once.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(to JOHN)
Your game --Your dollar.
(ALARIC to JIM)
And I get it Jim. What I want. I get it. One way or the other, I always get what I want. What's being a lawyer for man, if you can't party all night and do bad profitable things all day?
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
Nobody ever wins a lawsuit but the lawyers.
(long beat, then ALARIC says to JOHN)
God, you're an ugly woman.
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
Fuck you.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(with derision)
You? Pantywaist? Never.
(ALARIC eyes ELEKTRA)
On the other hand –Ooh la la you know what I'd like you to do to me?
ELEKTRA as played by Frances Fisher
(her eyes open wider with his proposition. BANDKITTY levitates up to the bar, puts her forelegs on EDGAR's chest, and demanded pets, right now and no nonsense with a “naaoww!” TIDE trotted over making the same demand on EDGAR. BANDKITTY rhythmically stretches out and relaxes her forepaws and sings a low song sounding bees buzzing in deep clover, her eyes narrow in contentment. ELEKTRA is stern, self-assured and arrogant to ALARIC)
Yes. And it’ll cost you. A lot.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
(watches The PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show while petting BANDKITY and TIDE)
Choose now, they croon --Beneath the moon. Enter the hot dream. Come with us. Everything is broken up and dances.
(ELEKTRA and ALARIC move to a large elegant mirrored and teal leather booth and pull its curtains closed. They are in clear silhouette. Cash changes hands. He leans over, trousers dropping, his hand moving up and down. She steps forward. ELEKTRA'S fingers slide across his now trembling back and calves, he stares into the mirror, amyl popper at his nose, and he feels her -- echoes her back with his hips all watched by the GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES and, VOYEURS. ELEKTRA, reading his moods, throws in the spontaneous and violent riffs that keep it savage. She literally awakens him with her fingernails. And ALARIC concentrates with his nodding head, always watching the mirror. ELEKTRA mixes it up, throws curves, and yet also -- and more delicately – arouses ALARIC with messianic sensations that crawled in his skin. There is something of Merlin in ELEKTRA -- the alchemist knows how to play ALARIC. ALARIC turns over. ELEKTRA moves into him, holding him by his ankles. GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES and, VOYEURS stake claims, eyes fucking ELEKTRA and ALARIC as they writhe, spreading his legs. Every twitch, every moment, every look in the mirror, ELEKTRA and ALARIC suck out the tension and a whip of a reaction in their audience. As ELEKTRA gains in rhythm, ALARIC in slightly SLOW MOTION tightens his backbone as if pulled up by an invisible rope, his hands pumping his small penis, one senses he has crossed a barrier now, gone into yet another stage of his performances from court, a stage from which he can never return. Like the killer who has made his first kill --ELEKTRA feels it instantly where it's going, slaps his penis. ALARIC groans, a primal unmistakable orgasm. As jaded as they come, the GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES and, VOYEURS still love it. Soon ELEKTRA and ALARIC are at the bar. ELEKTRA mixes drinks. ALARIC immediately downs his double, then another, and begins nursing his third.)
YUPPIE
(to ALARIC)
Man, like what a rumble. Do any freebies?
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(watches The PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show)
Nope.
YUPPIE
(scornful)
Lawyer? Just a mercenary here --A hired gun?
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
Well, not always. Sometimes I fuck you for free. Like right now.
(two beats for the YUPPIE to get the point, who doesn’t, then ALARIC shoves YUPPIE down and stands over him watched by the GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS)
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(ghastly, enjoys the fear)
Ooh la la, I must warn you. I do so enjoy the smell of your fear and, new blood.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
(eyes YUPPIE, who has wet his pants, but talks to ALARIC)
Alaric, Marin Psycho, Steve, will forge any document, lie, service the sewers, steal your drugs, your wheels, certainly your cash, possibly your wench until she finds just what a sleazy psycho he is and dumps him, off a balcony.
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
(dry)
Alaric, Steve, will you never learn? Who will we get now to pay for all this? A little practicality with the tourists if you please, cherie.
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
(moves to stand in front of ALARIC and over YUPPIE)
Yes, gently, cherie --They are so innocent Alaric. They must not be made to unnecessarily suffer when they've chosen this wild side. You should see your eyes right now.
(ALARIC and FATA MORGANA look into the mirrors.)
Look at your eyes Alaric-- you're crazy man, you look crazy. Gods are sometimes crazy too. Dionysus made ecstasy and madness. Madness is sometimes all right.
(FATA MORGANA lights a joint)
Here's a joint. Mellow out.
(FATA MORGANA hands joint to ALARIC)
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(takes and smokes joint; watches the PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show )
Fata, I feel only Greed. I want to get everything I can, and I know it will never be enough so I just numb out all my feelings doing it.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
(pets BANDKITTY then TIDE, says in general and to no one)
Pardon him Mortals: Alaric is a barbarian, and thinks that the avarice customs of his legal tribe and business island are the laws of nature.
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
(watches The PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show)
I wouldn't go numb if you paid me.
ELEKTRA as played by Frances Fisher
Oh yeah what would you do for payment John? Perhaps your definition of love differs from mine.
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
Ooh la la --All love consists of three parties. There is the Surprise Party. There is the Practical Joker Party. There is the Fairy Godmother Party.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
(leans back in his chair, spreads his legs and runs his hands over his crotch, watched by the GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS)
Not all will enter the gates at evening. The games afoot!
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
(pets BANDKITTY then TIDE, grins)
Only outside the gates do you get a Holmes shaking you awake to tell you, “Let's party!”
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
(conflicted; still watches the PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show)
I want the feeling of romance and the sense of wonder I had as a kid. I want the world to be the way they promised me it was going to be – instead of this tawdry, lousy, fouled-up mess it is.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(drunkenly derisive to JOHN)
Pardonnez-moi, ma'ma'selle John, go home to your wife. The one you spend most of the day at my office whining about. Remember her? The trophy wife of four days you paid me to file a divorce from.
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
(looks at himself in mirror; the mirror, his only real love)
JIM as played by Dwight Yoakam
(pulls a couple chairs over by EDGAR, pats them, sits in the far one from EDGAR)
The lady that honors Edgar and I with her play, we'll immediately return her the favor.
(FATA MORGANA sits in the chair between EDGAR and JIM. ALARIC drunkenly moves off the YUPPIE and stumbles into a chair where he sits and watches FATA MORGANA, EDGAR and JIM. The YUPPIE on the floor doesn't move. On the other hand, LANCE, JOHN and ELEKTRA move to a booth. As far as they are concerned, Yuppie and Alaric are furniture. In all silhouette LANCE sits down and ELEKTRA sits on his lap. LANCE runs his fingers through ELEKTRA’s hair, kisses her gently.)
LANCE voice only
Ooh la la.
(The PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ continue their show)
CURTAIN closes, End of Act I Scene One - Secrets
Act I Scene Two - Sex, start MUSIC Perfidia @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=do5wCwTPs24&playnext=1&list=PLFE22402EF854317E. CURTAIN opens onto interior JOHN and ALICE's SAUSALITO HOUSEBOAT in 1991. After nine years of being together, YOUNG JOHN and YOUNG ALICE are starting their third week of marriage, and YOUNG ALICE, just accepted to Grad school, has a baby on her mind. They made love that morning and are now going about getting ready for their day. They warmly kiss goodbye as YOUNG JOHN leaves first. A couple moments later a knock on the side of the houseboat and YOUNG ALICE, thinking John forgot something, opens the door. CINDY serves her with divorce papers and a restraining order. ALICE stumbles back in where she sinks onto the sofa, wondering if she’s pregnant. She makes a phone call.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
David, he just served me with divorce papers . . . Cousin, this is not the time to be telling me you told me so . . . I don't know if we're pregnant . . . no . . . he still doesn't know about the family.
(A clock rapidly turns from 7:45 am to 4 pm, and YOUNG JOHN enters. He ignores YOUNG ALICE. YOUNG ALICE whizzes a houseplant by his ear.)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
Why? Please tell me John. Tell me how it came to be that I am now all this . . .
(with distaste she holds up Jon's thick lurid divorce papers)
. . . a week is no honeymoon and certainly not long enough for a marriage.
(YOUNG JOHN looks directly at YOUNG ALICE. His cold gaze shocks her. YOUNG ALICE notices that her fear excites him. Eying him, YOUNG ALICE sizes up the situation and rises.)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(slowly)
Even after nine years we don't know each other, do we, John?
(a long beat while she thinks this is the man I've loved for nine years, married ten days ago and he's hiding something, and we might be pregnant; and makes her decision)
Quitter.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirror; the mirror, his only real love)
How's that?
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
You give up awfully easy, don't you?
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(surprised; looks at her warily)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
But John why do you want a divorce? We haven’t even had a honeymoon.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
I don't know.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
But that is no reason to get a divorce!
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(watches himself in the mirrors, tests)
Yes. And I'm bored with this prattle.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(exasperated)
But what aren't you telling me? Perhaps your definition of love differs from mine.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(he won't meet her eyes)
I thought you knew. You know.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(she gets a glimpse of his eyes but that was enough. She now knew. Exasperated)
Oh no. No, no, no. There are some things you should disclose before you get married.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
I thought you knew.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
I do now.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
I thought you knew.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
We are in love and so euphoric am I that I have yielded to your every desire...
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
I thought you knew.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
You should have told me before I fell in love with you John.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
I thought you knew.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
Oh no. No, no, no.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
I thought you knew.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(a long beat while she again thinks this is the man I love and want as the father of my children and we may now be pregnant)
No. No, I didn't know.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
I thought it was over between us.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(absentmindedly as she again wonders if they’re pregnant)
It'll never be over between us.
(pets BANDKITTY then TIDE, a beat, then her voice rises)
That's how it happened? After nine years and two weeks of marriage, without first talking with me, you thought it was over. How can that be?! You must have thought this your first day back home from the wedding chapel in order to meet with a divorce attorney and have me served two weeks later.
(she is hurt and conflicted. She knows she cannot leave him.)
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(He looks at himself in the mirrors then smiles. A sly, pleasurable frightening secret smile.)
I'll withdraw it.
(He walks up close to her.)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(stares at him a beat, his new excitement, and she is suddenly very cold, very alert, captivated, terrified, and enthralled.)
This is so below the belt.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(smiles)
Ooh la la, not yet it isn't.
(he pulls her close, looks into the mirrors)
But we're getting there.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(naive but quick learner)
I'm very confused and hurt right now. I want things to be as they were. With no hint, no warning, after only two weeks of our marriage you serve me with divorce papers. I don't understand. I don't know who you are. Do you?
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(tests)
What a pair we are. We deserve each other, don't we?
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(a long beat while she again thinks this is the man I love and want as the father of my children and we may now be pregnant, naive)
As long as we're a pair working on a full house. I want children now. You will talk with me first before ever doing something so terrible again won't you?
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in the mirror, tests)
You shouldn't play this game. You're way over your head Alice-through-the-looking-glass.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
I know.
(another long beat while she again thinks this is the man I loved for nine years and want as the father of my children and we may now be pregnant)
Then I must not only master this game but also become an expert player.
(LIGHT fades on them as they begin to make love; YOUNG JOHN looks at them in the mirrors)
YOUNG JOHN voice only
Ooh la la.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(tight spot LIGHT opens up on ALICE who pets BANDKITTY then TIDE then says)
I didn't know at the time he was doing the first of what would a lot of his drama trips with his game of Prove Again You Love Me. Hey! Little Man. Comb your hair, polish your shoes. Soon I will open the door. Don't think because there's a ring on your finger, you needn't try anymore. Husbands should always be lovers too. Walk to my arms the moment I come home to you. I'm warning you... Day after day, there are men at the office And girls will always be girls. Don't send me off with no smile and no kiss. You may not see me again. Husbands should always be lovers too. Walk to my arms the moment I come home to you. I'm almost here... Hey! Little Man. Better wear something handsome, something you'd wear to go to the city and dim all the lights, pour the wine, start the music. Time to get ready for love. Time to get ready. Time to get ready for love.
CURTAIN closes, End of Act I Scene Two - Sex.
Act I Scene Three – Sass, start MUSIC Waheera, Arturo Sandoval @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc3TXOnyXqs, CURTAIN opens to 1991 GIGER. As the curtain raises JEN, bartender, makes a phone call with the bar's phone, hangs up, makes another call, hangs up and this goes on and on and on. JEN is dressed dominatrix with bleached blonde hair in poodle curls. GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES and, VOYEURS are on set. YOUNG JOHN, in drag sans wedding ring and wife Young Alice of now two months, enters. YOUNG JOHN and JEN share looks. JEN is angry and hurt with YOUNG JOHN. YOUNG JOHN is dismissive of JEN's obvious mood to him. YOUNG JOHN looks at himself in the mirrors.
(JEN makes phone call, hangs up, makes another call, hangs up and this goes on and on and on. Stage LIGHTS go dark. RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE.)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(tight LIGHT spot opens up on YOUNG ALICE)
(Background: RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE.)
John, since we got married two months ago, these hang ups are escalating. Do you know what's going on?

LIGHTS down then stage LIGHTS up to GIGER, it is 2011. Watching themselves in the mirrors are ALARIC and JOHN K. OLSON. LANCE, JIM and ELEKTRA are having sex watched by GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SALAVES, and VOYEURS. FATA MORGANA tends bar. It has complementary condoms and amyl on it. The PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show is on.
(EDGAR walks in, sits at bar)
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
(mixes up an espresso and puts it in front of EDGAR, strokes EDGAR's wrist. BANDKITTY and TIDE joined them. BANDKITTY says “kwleert', sits down on the bar and starts to wash herself. EDGAR and FATA pet BANDKITY and TIDE)
Edgar, touch is the fastest way to build social bonds. Hold hands, touch another on the back, pat a shoulder, shake hands, hug, kiss; all release oxytocin and it makes people like and trust you more with each touch.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
(tips FATA MORGANA with a joint and a kiss, pets BANDKITTY who gives a long bubbling 'bleerrrt' then bops EDGAR, then EDGAR pets TIDE while he looks around)
Ooh la la, as jaded as they come, the groupies, yuppies, go-go slaves and, voyeurs still love our touch.
(LANCE, JIM and ELEKTRA continue to have sex watched by GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SALAVES, and VOYEURS)
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
(pets BANDKITTY who says 'krrwarr'. FATA scratches BANDKITTY under the chin, doing it properly. BANDKITTY accepted it, stretching her neck and closing her eyes looking very pleased. Then FATA pets TIDE, smile)
But they understand, Edgar. They're drawn. All our real desires are unconscious and unseen . . . draws everyone like a gossamer veiled moth to light. We're their lights.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
(gentle, watches the PUSSYCAT DOLLS)
The greater the suffering, the more terrible the events, the greater the pleasure --They want it Fata. It's catharsis. No different than the ancient Greeks.
(stage LIGHTS dim as in background: RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE.)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(tight LIGHT spot opens up on YOUNG ALICE)
John, I got a call from the Sausalito police this evening.

(two beats)
John? Don't you want to know?
(two beats)
Well. Perhaps you already know since it's your student teacher, a Cindy.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(tight LIGHT remains opens on YOUNG JOHN looking at himself in mirrors)
(Background: RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE.)
Oh man.
(RINGING PHONE. HANG UP. RINGING PHONE. HANG UP.)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson

We're still playing games, aren't we? Care to clue me in?
(She looks hurt.)
(YOUNG JOHN walks out front door looks at himself in mirror as he does)
(Ringing phone. Hang up. Ringing phone.)
CURTAIN closes, End of Act I Scene Three - Sass
Act II Scene One – Spankings, start MUSIC Royal Blue , Henry Mancini @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vEyIJgaZIQ, CURTAIN opens onto interior JOHN and ALICE's Sausalito houseboat in 1991. After nine years of being together, YOUNG JOHN and YOUNG ALICE are starting their third month of marriage, and YOUNG ALICE, in first semester of Grad school, again has a baby on her mind. YOUNG ALICE is preparing for grad class. YOUNG JOHN is sitting in a chair. YOUNG ALICE smiles and moves seductively onto YOUNG JOHN’s lap. YOUNG JOHN stands up and dumps her onto the floor. He’d been sitting on one of her hats which from her now eyelevel is clearly seen by her. She takes her crushed hat and works it back into shape and wonders how he would like her treating his trumpets this way. She was sure not any more than she did about her crushed hat and crushed heart with him now dumping her onto the floor)
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
I've set up the rv at Sonoma State's student housing.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
What . . . why?
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
I'll have all your stuff in it.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(slowly)
John? What's going on?
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
You should have just ignored it.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(slowly shakes her head from side to side)
Ignored what John?
Stage goes DARK. Then LIGHTS up and it is now 2011. ALICE sits at the table in the Sausalito houseboat. CINDY and JIM stand.
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
Ooh la la --But you didn't ignore me. John K. Olson did. But you didn't. You hauled my immature ass into court.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
Where, oopsie you attacked me. You dropped your bombshells --That I have a cross-dressing husband and you have a sexual harassment, discrimination complaint against him.
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
John K. Olson had destroyed my career and life.
JIM as played by Dwight Yoakam
Not his first or last.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
Who wrote on the school walls?
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
A hired hand of ole Helen –Steve --Helen knew a mark when she saw one, and John K. Olson had this insecure mark's in love with you all over him.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
What?! Was the car even really taken?
CINDY looks at JIM
JIM as played by Dwight Yoakam
Yep --By a hired hand of ole Helen –Steve --Tried to pass it off as Cindy.
(ALICE looks suddenly sick to her stomach.)
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
It gets worse-- for both of us. Nothing like lovin' a man; only to find out he is just fucking you for your money.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(slowly)
You're saying John knew? That John knew these were set-ups by his own attorney?
Stage goes DARK. Then LIGHTS up and it is now 1991. YOUNG ALICE sits at the table in their Sausalito houseboat. YOUNG JOHN stands.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(on phone with Twin Cities police, looks at YOUNG JOHN who avoids her eyes, looks at himself in the mirrors)
Yes, I'm here now with him . . . . . . Charges? No, I will not be pressing any charges.
(puts phone down, again eyes YOUNG JOHN)
John. Yesterday you filed a Twin Cities Police Report that your car had been stolen and named me as the thief.
(two beats, dry)
Bad enough you called me a thief John, tried to get me arrested, but then somehow you failed to tell the Twin Cities Police my name is also on title of that car and that I am your wife of three months --Which all sure surprised the Twin Cities Police when I told them. So they went back talking to you. Then they just somehow did not seem surprised when you called them a few hours later to report a miracle; you had found our car. This isn't the honeymoon I'd dreamed about John.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(long beat, tight spot LIGHT opens)
I thought John was just doing another of his drama trips with his game of Prove Again You Love Me.
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
(tight spot LIGHT opnes)
Nope. It was a hired hand of ole Helen. Steve again. Helen was getting John ready to again shake for more cash. That's what happens when you don't talk with your spouse. When you instead bring marital matters before a divorce lawyer, especially trivial ones like 50-cent steak knives you want in the divorce after now three months of marriage. The lawyer just puts you on that lawyer's books as the cash account for the lawyer's kid's college.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(tight spot LIGHT)
And that is what John did again. Again used my love for him against me. Tricked me, slept with me to get my class schedule out of me to have me served divorce papers in grad class. And there went my doctorate's time and money into lawyers.
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
(tight spot LIGHT)
I know exactly how that feels. Then he of course reconciled.
(ALICE, JIM and CINDY's LIGHTS go dark and spot LIGHT opens on YOUNG JOHN looking at himself in the mirrors)
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
I'll withdraw the divorce.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(pets BANDKITTY then TIDE, a long beat, weary, thinking of her now lost doctorate, the baby again on hold)
Okay.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
Okay? That's all? Without any of those answers you so long for.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
You didn't answer.
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
But you asked the wrong questions.
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
I'm not a mind reader husband. How about helping your wife out here John when she stumbles over her own feet, instead of kicking her when she's down, John?
(He stares at her then looks at himself in the mirrors. A long beat, then)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
Why do you do this?
YOUNG JOHN as played by Elijah Wood
(looks at himself in mirrors)
To see if I can get away with it.
(They look at each other a beat. YOUNG JOHN looks at himself in the mirrors)
YOUNG ALICE as played by Scarlett Johansson
(quietly)
Where's it going? What do you want from me?
(Their faces are close together. YOUNG JOHN can't hide his smile anymore as he looks at himself in the mirrors.)

ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(helps himself to a drink, derisive)
John's got his 'this insecure mark's in love with her' all over him tonight. I feel a deposit soon coming into my bank account.
(ELEKTRA, JIM, EDGAR and the TWO TOURISTS continue with silhouetted sex acts watched by the GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS.)
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
What are you two up to now?
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(wolfish, downs drink, mixes another)
Seems black-hearted John suddenly has an epiphany.
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
(looks at himself in mirrors, distant tone)
You didn't tell me Steve.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(flat laugh)
Never my job --My job was to listen to you forever whine about your clearly-out-of-your-league trophy wife --Then to do what you lavishly paid me to do to her.
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
(looks at himself in the mirrors, bitter)
I am not your atm.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(laughs)
Ooh la la oh but you are, or she has been. Who would have known she'd come through making that kind of big money for us? A smart Trophy Wife. Good thing she has a weakness, you, or this would never have worked as well as it has for me.
(ELEKTRA, JIM, EDGAR and the TWO TOURISTS continue with silhouetted sex acts watched by the GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS.)
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
(flat and measured)
Alaric, you're drunk, shut up.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(hollow laugh to LANCE)
Ole John'd be in my office relentlessly whining about his trophy wife he is so-clearly-out-of-his-league-with and, keeping-secrets-from. He keeps choking up at bat. He wants a divorce. He wants a restraining order. He always wants a divorce. He always wants a restraining order. We tell him counseling. So does the naive trophy wife. So does the judge. And John, he never stops fucking her. Divorce court by day, her bed by evening, Giger by night. And he thought no one knew he was still fucking her all along. Divorce after divorce after how many divorce filings, six? Seven? All dismissed. Now you call it love but I call it madness -- Profitable for me madness. Thanks John K. Olson, thanks for all the cash, a lifetime of cash –ooh la la.
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
(touches JOHN who is clearly getting angry. JOHN watches himself in the mirrors)
Alaric's at it again John. Clearly you can take care of yourself. The boy though is still too young to take care of himself.
(The PUSSYCAT DOLLS continue with their show. ELEKTRA, JIM, EDGAR and the TWO TOURISTS continue with silhouetted sex acts.)
JIM as played by Dwight Yoakum
After love John wanted his Mommy. John got married the first time because he thought he had to. John got married the second time for love. John got married the third time for security. After love, a Mommy surrogate is all any man can handle.
End of Act II Scene Two – Soirees. CURTAIN closes.
Act II Scene Three – Sacking, start MUSIC, I'm A Fool To Want You, Donald Byrd @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIQc20cK5Vc.. Stage CURTAIN and LIGHTS up to GIGER, it is 2011. Watching himself in the mirrors is JOHN K. OLSON in drag sand wedding ring. FATA MORGANA tends bar. ELEKTRA is sitting in a booth in far background and in dark enough you are unable to see who is in the booth with her. ALARIC in cop costume, and CELEBRITY stand at the bar. Background: PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show, GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS.
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
(to CELEBRITY)
Want to get to know anyone here?
CELEBRITY cameo as played by Jennifer Lynch
(friendly grin)
I already know too many people. Until one of them dies I couldn't fucking meet anyone else.
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
(helpful)
That can be arranged. Everything's negotiable here.
CELEBRITY cameo as played by Jennifer Lynch
So I've heard. Negotiate I can do.
(pets TIDE, moves away and out of sight)
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
Ooh la la --Happy hunting.
(LANCE, in elegant gothic vampire costume, enters, looks around, and registers JOHN K. OLSON and ALARIC, and then LANCE moves to the bar.)
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
Fata love, greetings and, is my package behind the bar?
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
Greetings Master Lance. It is. Did you bring the other package?
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
(watches The PUSSYCAT DOLLS’ show)
Yes, and another show is about to begin.
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
Ooh la la.
(LANCE exits then within seconds, JIM, EDGAR, CINDY, LANCE, and ALICE enter. JIM, CINDY and ALICE stop immediately when ALICE spots JOHN. ALICE suddenly lights up in sheer delight for a few seconds; but then looks both sick to her stomach and faint as she then remembers ‘oh, yeah, he is on another Damnation of Memory mission’. ALICE now looks wary and guarded. EDGAR moves to ELEKTRA. LANCE moves to the bar. LANCE stops by JOHN.)
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
John, I’m here on a friendly civil standby for someone who wants to see you.
(JOHN K. OLSON looks at himself in the mirrors. LANCE turns and motions to ELEKTRA. ELECTRA and EDGAR step closer to the bar, and a slender fashionably European dressed boy, KEN, around ten years old, is revealed to be between them. KEN wears very 1960’s dark gun-barrel blue-grey corduroy cuffed and pleated tapered slacks, dark blue loafers, light grey thin socks, with a square cut dark blue, dark yellow, dark orange Hawaiian shirt worn out. TIDE trots over to check KEN out. KEN pets TIDE. ALICE is clearly startled, starts to move but KEN catches ALICE’s eye and smiles reassuringly and then winks at ALICE. ALICE stops with a ‘I hope you know what you’re doing here’ look. EDGAR also winks at ALICE. JIM gives ALICE a quick shoulder hug. JOHN looks blankly into the mirrors. ALARIC on the other hand, takes one look at KEN, looks back and forth between JOHN and ALICE, and then moves over to LANCE.)
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
Okay Lance, I’m his attorney, what the fuck’s going on?
(ALARIC moves closer to LANCE.)
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
I’m here on a friendly civil standby for someone who wants to see John.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
This kid?
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
Yes.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
Why?
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
I am here only on a friendly civil standby, to keep the peace.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
At whose request?
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
This boy.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
He’s a minor; he can’t make such a request.
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
Oh Steve, sure he can—And he has. Ken, this is John. John, Ken is here because he wants to see you while he’s visiting our country.
(JOHN continues to look blankly at himself in the mirrors. KEN does a slight bow to JOHN and then motions graciously JOHN to the back and with a very slight Italian accent)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
Ciao. Please, I would like more privacy.
(KEN and JOHN followed by TIDE move into a booth and its curtains close. ALARIC looks uneasy. Silence then booth curtains open and KEN and JOHN walk to the bar. KEN looks puzzled. JOHN looks stunned then angry as he sees ALARIC. ALARIC moves to LANCE then pulls out Lance’s handgun ALARIC knows LANCE always carries. TWO YUPPIES, members of KEN’s security detail, begin to move in on KEN. EDGAR sees the gun and when ALARIC points the gun at KEN, EDGAR moves and pushes KEN aside and to the floor. ALARIC FIRES the gun as LANCE grabs ALARIC.)
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
KEN!
(The bullet grazes EDGAR‘s leg, then grazes the leg of KEN, and then lodges in the floor. JIM pulls a handgun out and FIRES at ALARIC. With their bodies, the TWO KEN’s BODYGUARDS obscure KEN from the others and the audience. ALARIC is hit in his shooting arm, ALARIC drops Lance’s gun as ALARIC goes down to his knees)
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(furious)
The PI reported she MIScarried while out of the country!
JOHN as played by Burt Ward
(looks at himself in the mirrors, bitter)
You had her followed? You knew she was pregnant?
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(laughs)
Oh don’t give me that. So did you. You paid for it all.
(JOHN takes Lance’s gun and JOHN FIRES the gun at ALARIC. LANCE moves to JOHN to retrieve his gun but JOHN just drops the gun and looks at himself in the mirrors. KEN reaches out from his BODYGUARD and picks it up. ALARIC is hit in the side of his chest and, falls sideways to the floor. A long beat of silence. The jaded GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS think it’s just more show and continue to smile their pleasure, and then CINDY goes to ALARIC and, kicks him)
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
(soft)
Oopsie.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
GROAN. There isn’t supposed to be any goddamned kid!
(CINDY then kicks ALARIC again)
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
(soft)
Oopsie.
ALARIC as played by Michael Ironside
(faint)
Groan.
(The jaded GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS think it’s just more show and continue to smile their pleasure with each kick. CINDY with pity looks at JOHN, then KEN, then ALICE, long beat)
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
(soft)
Ooh la la --the monster finally down that destroyed so many lives . . .
(then CINDY kicks ALARIC once more, who is silent.)
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
(soft)
You bastard . . . trying to make it look like it was all me.
(long beat . . . into the silence)
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
(brisk . . . and with relish)
Ooh la la --Well I feel better now --Is Steve dead?
(Long beat . . . It hangs there. Impossible words, yet the jaded GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS continue to smile their pleasure)
(LANCE kneels to check ALARIC, and then stands up)
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
Yep. Now Steve’s dead. Between my gun, Jim, John and Cindy, he’s dead. Now we gotta figure out how to deal with it.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
Why, do you think we're going to need to? Steve clearly went too far this time Once is a happenstance. Twice is a coincidence. The third time it's enemy action.
JIM as played by Dwight Yoakam
It was self-defense.
ELEKTRA as played by Frances Fisher
(soft)
It was.
(after a long beat, ELEKTRA looks at JOHN looking at himself in the mirrors, and says sadly)
You just can't tell about people, can you? Even the ones you think you know inside out.
(long beat)
Are these the answers you came here for Ken?
(Everyone stares at ELEKTRA but ELEKTRA now looks at KEN. So everyone turns to look at KEN. LANCE moves to KEN to retrieve his gun. The realization begins to sink in with everyone that KEN has the gun pointed at JOHN. KEN has both his hands on the weapon and, his hands are steady.)
(long beat . . . into the silence)
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(soft)
Mio figlio, I don’t want him dead cherie. I don’t want him even hurt. Egli è ancora il mio tutto.
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
Reflexive decisions have their complications.
(KEN looks at JOHN then ALICE)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(puzzled)
Questo è quello che ho detto a mio papà, and that I wanted both my parents and, I wanted to know why I didn’t have that.
(pain)
Mama, he has never been here for me and, now he only tells me egli non sa perché?
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(looks pensively at JOHN but says matter-of-fact to KEN)
Well, at least he’s consistent in that. Detto la stessa cosa a me.
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
(in a dry Cary Grant manner)
Shoot him lad, you’ve got diplomatic immunity. Make it an even two as you’re getting credit for Steve.
(LANCE catches the attention of JIM. Then LANCE, JIM and the TWO KEN’s BODYGUARDS move slowly GROUPIES, YUPPIES, GO-GO SLAVES, and VOYEURS back a few feet from KEN. ALICE watches calmly)
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(dry)
Lance stop encouraging my son. You’ve done quite enough already for today.
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
And so do you m’lady if you’d let us.
(LANCE points to the two KEN’s BODYGUARDS, and to the looking very just an emotionally hurt ten-year-old boy, KEN who remains holding Lance’s gun on JOHN)
(KEN looks at JOHN then ALICE)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(still puzzled)
Mamma, mi sia amore e odio lui. How do I live with that?
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(her eyes flash, her lips curl in a smirk, her hands waving, and with no hesitation)
Credendo che il meglio deve ancora venire.
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(in a tone that is a preview of the man he is to become)
Mama, this isn’t opera where when one is stabbed in the back, instead of bleeding, they sing.
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
My son, I know you’re bleeding and in pain.
ELEKTRA as played by Frances Fisher
(long beat)
Ken, it’s not what you know to live with. It’s how you live with what you know.
(EDGAR looks at JOHN but says to KEN)
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
Young Master, are you going to be Greek tragedy, Shakespearean or Luke Skywalker today?
(KEN eyes EDGAR. Looking very just an emotionally hurt ten-year-old boy, KEN remains holding Lance’s gun on JOHN who looks at himself in the mirrors)
LANCE as played by Jamie Bell
(Cary Grant matter-of-fact)
Oh, just shoot him. Ooh la la. Think about it. Turns out he wanted only to be a ballroom dance instructor in a senior trailer park. He was 55, buying into an age 55 or older senior trailer park with a 4½-month pregnant 45-year-old major league trophy wife? Eh? That says a lot.
(KEN eyes LANCE. LANCE, JIM and EDGAR eye protectively ALICE)
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
(eyes darken, defensive)
He wasn’t always such Lance.
(eyes flash, proud)
I’ve told Ken stories of when his papa was a really cool Reg Blank and Howard Roark –both with their Dominique in love with them.
(KEN smiles at ALICE –then looking very just an emotionally hurt ten-year-old boy, KEN remains holding Lance’s gun on JOHN, long beat)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(sounds very ten-year-old boy)
Mama had me watching Fountainhead with my breast milk. Dominique Francon was one of Mama’s childhood heroes. I want to grow up to be an actor like Gary Cooper.
(a CHORUS of smiles and nods)
ELEKTRA as played by Frances Fisher
(muses)
Ooh la la --Then give Lance now his gun Ken, as it is much easier to become an actor --or father than to be one.
(KEN eyes ELEKTRA. Looking very just an emotionally hurt ten-year-old boy, KEN remains holding Lance’s gun on JOHN; long beat)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(sounding very ten-year-old boy anguish as he looks at JOHN who looks at himself in the mirrors)
Has he ever searched and found a moment, any moment, when he said to himself, this is my son, and I love him. Was it when our Alice went through another looking glass and he first felt me move in Mama? Was it when I was born? Or when I was first put in his hands? Was it when he first stood by my crib?
(ALICE begins to cry silently)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(sounding very ten-year-old boy grief)
Or when I first smiled with recognition at him? Was it the moment I first walked to him? Where are those moments when he loved me?! Was it when I first said ‘Papa’? Or was it when I blew that first trumpet note? Was it when I tied that first nautical knot just like my Papa does?
(FATA MORGANA, ELEKTRA, CINDY and AUDIENCE begin to cry silently, long beat)
JIM as played by Dwight Yoakam
Wrongs are often forgiven but contempt never is . . . Honor can oblige the offended to resent and so to challenge.
(KEN eyes JIM)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(in that tone that is a preview of the man he is to become)
Papa indulged and indulges himself.
FATA MORGANA as played by Joanna Lumley
Ken, a fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows he to be a fool.
(KEN eyes FATA MORGANA)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(sounds very ten-year-old boy distress)
I am not yet a man. Does he hate me? Is that why he did to me what he has?
CINDY as played by Nikki Blonsky
Ken, it was only through the efforts of his son, Luke Skywalker, that Anakin Skywalker was redeemed.
(KEN eyes CINDY)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(sounding very ten-year-old boy, years of accumulated humiliation and resentment flood out of him)
We’ve waited for Papa to come home. He never came home.
ELEKTRA as played by Frances Fisher
On the other hand, it is much easier to become a son than to be one.
(KEN eyes ELEKTRA)
ALICE as played by Lucy Lawless
Cherie, I don’t want him dead. I don’t want him even hurt.
Start MUSIC, Shirley Bassey - What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hR_W7KZtPvw.
(KEN fights back tears, eyes ALICE who is crying, and he looks very just an emotionally hurt ten-year-old boy that remains holding Lance’s gun on JOHN; long beat)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
Mama, he left us to die in the hospital..
EDGAR as played by Matt Smith
Today, today Young Master, are you going to be Greek tragedy, Shakespearean or Luke Skywalker?
(KEN, now crying, eyes EDGAR. Looking very just an emotionally hurt ten-year-old boy, KEN remains holding Lance’s gun on JOHN; long beat)
KEN as played by Preston Bailey
(looks at JOHN who looks at himself in the mirrors, sounding very ten-year-old boy puzzlement and hurt at the drag costume and abandonment)
I don’t know who you are Papa. Do you? And what of your precious marriage vows?
Lost in his or her own thoughts, everyone remains casually and silently in place through tune. End MUSIC. CURTAINS close. The end.
