Jimmy Rollins predicts Phillies in 5 over the Yankess,10/27/09
Jimmy Rollins, the Phillies' shortstop, told Jay Leno on Monday that the Phillies would win the World Series handily.
“If we're nice, we'll let it go six,” Rollins said. “But I'm thinking five, close it out at home.”
hree years ago, Rollins boldly proclaimed the Phillies "The team to beat" in the National League East, despite the fact that they had not won a division title since 1993. Sure enough, they overtook the Mets on the last day of the season to clinch the crown.
Prior to last season, Rollins predicted that the Phillies would win 100 games. While they finished the regular season with just 92 wins, they won 11 games in the postseason to boost their total to 103.
And on several occasions this season, Rollins has predicted the Phillies would face the Yankees in the World Series, which is exactly where they find themselves.
